What We’re Fundraising For:
Raise money to help cover program expenses
Why We Need Your Support:
Need to check the temp each morning to determine if it is hoodie weather, shorts weather or need to pack both because it will be 20 degrees in the AM but 75 degrees by the afternoon? Check!
'Grumpy Gus' kids complaining about it being dark when they wake up and dark when they get home? Check!
Receiving text and emails from nieces, neighbors, and the daughter of your 4th cousin, twice removed asking for money? Check!
Sounds like it's basketball season in the great Mitten State!
The Utica Girls Basketball Program is once again hoping you won't ignore the text message, email or QR code that got you here and that you will open your heart (and wallets) to help us raise money to cover program expenses for this season.
What type of costs are we looking to cover? Glad you asked! Your donations help us to:
- Buy year-end awards that are given to players at each level at our end of season banquet, like these bad boys:
- Pay for varsity photo banners that are hung up in the gym that help intimidate teams that come to play at the "U"
- Purchase team gear such as sweatshirts, practice jerseys, warm-ups and t-shirts so the girls look like a unified team and don't freeze on those road game bus rides
- Pay our awesome stat bookkeeper Dan "The Scorebook Man" Rajnicek for road games and keep the other score keeper honest. Nothing ever gets past Dan, he's like a secret weapon for the program!
- Hopefully raise enough to purchase a new set of jerseys for the freshman team similar to the mock up below (since the ones they are wearing are about 15 years old and the next set that will be passed down won't be that much newer...)
- And many more exciting things!
Now, we know you work hard for you money, so this year, we are offering something new. For anyone that donates at least $25, you will get a special 2024-2025 Utica Girls Basketball Program T-Shirt so you can feel ultra cool and let everyone know you are a member of an exclusive club. Please note, if you donate anonymously, we won't be able to match your name up to a donation so we won't be able to provide a shirt (so let us know who you are so you can get a proper thank you)!
Also, maybe you are saying to yourself, "I want this girl to put in some work to earn my money!" Well, we have an option for that as well this year, as you can choose to donate an amount per shot made using our "Free-Throw Shoot-a-thon" choice. All members of the program will shoot 100 free-throws on a designated date in practice and the amount you donate will be based on how many the player you support makes. Think of the benefits - you get to help sponsor the team and also help a program member improve as a free-throw shooter. It's like giving double! You may want to hedge your bet though and find out how good a free-throw shooter you are sponsoring before picking how much to donate per made shot...
We truly do appreciate any amount you choose to donate and support our program as we would not be able to have a memorable, successful season without your help!
