About the San Diego Magic FIB Magic Shoot-a-thon

For over two decades, the San Diego Magic has been more than just a basketball program—it has been a launchpad for young men  and women to achieve their dreams of higher education and professional success. Our mission is to provide the platform, the coaching, and the exposure necessary for local athletes to showcase their skills to the world.

Proven Results: A Look Back at 2004

Success isn't just a goal; it's our history. Exactly 22 years ago, the Magic celebrated a "perfect season" in player development, placing 100% of our seniors (16 out of 16) into college programs. These athletes proved that with the right guidance, the path from San Diego to the next level is wide open:

Justin Armstrong (6'4") – University of Columbia, D1

Mark Hall (6'9") – Long Beach State, D1

Chike Ekweozer (6'7") – Utah Valley State, D1

Javon Williams (6'5") & Kenny Barker (6'4") – Alaska Fairbanks, D2

Grayson Moyer (6'5") – Humboldt State, D2

Severin Gates (6'7") – Odessa C.C. (Recruited by Fresno St/Wyoming), JUCO

Kenneth Maye (5’10”) - Point Loma Nazarene, NAIA

Shuane Caston (6’6”) - L.A.Trade Tech, JUCO

Peter Wofford (6’2”) - Mira Costa, JUCO

Robert Walton (6’4”) - University of Warner Pacific, NAIA

J.R. Griffin (6’4”) - Saddleback, JUCO

David Kinder (6’7”) - San Diego City College, JUCO

Chike Ekweozer (6’7”) - Utah Valley State, D1

Kenny Barker (6'4") - Alaska Fairbanks, D2

Jon Kargas (6'4") - Holy Names, NAIA

Anthony Medina (5’10”) - L.A. Trade Tech, JUCO

Additional Successes: Our alumni players have reached every level, including standout placements in the NBA, recruiting Overseas Pros, landing scholarships at colleges, such as, but not limited to, Point Loma Nazarene, San Diego City College, Southwestern College.

The 2026 Shoot-a-Thon: Investing in the Next Generation

Today, we are asking for your support to keep this pipeline of opportunity flowing. Basketball at this level requires significant travel and operational resources to ensure our players are seen by the right scouts and recruiters.

Your donations directly support:

Operational Expenses: Keeping our facilities and training accessible for all.

Travel Grants: Ensuring that no player is left behind due to the cost of travel to national showcases.

Exposure: Providing the platform for today’s kids to "show their magic" and earn the scholarships that change lives.

Support the San Diego Magic. Help us turn today’s talent into tomorrow’s college graduates.
